Anyone Can Publish, Writing is Just Putting Down What You Feel
Three books of me as a co-author came out in the last few months. And with this I've now been published in 4 books.
I always used to think I'll wait for the right time before getting published. But after the first one I thought of sharing my current material with different publishers. My experience has been that starting something is the most difficult stage of doing anything. Once you take that leap of faith, there's no fear of the unknown and your confidence takes care of the rest.
I've tested these waters, and now sharing a few pointers here for anyone who's figuring out how to start.
-These are anthologies where a number of authors come together and there's a compiler. You can click on the publishers I tagged and see if they're looking for contributions for the topics you write about. Then you DM them.
-If you share your writing on your insta then you get a lot of DMs by compilers asking if you want to contribute. You can verify them, check publisher and collaborate.
-I sent most of these before July 2021 and they got published by Dec 2021 and Jan and Feb this year. So it takes time.
And you don't have to be a good or bad writer to publish. It's all a bunch of people who express their emotions through words sharing their experiences. Anthologies are the best way to start and get an idea about what happens in the publishing world. It also helps hone your writing skills and understanding of the self.
