Women Empowerment

It was the late 1800’s, women had began to voice their opinions strongly and demanded equal rights. A few people, including men were supportive of this new wave and used the term feminism to represent the idea of gender equality. A feminist to them represented somebody who believed in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes. And thus the world found a term to refer to anybody who spoke for equal rights.

Perhaps gender equality was such a surprise for the world at the time that they needed an ‘ism’ to club together all the people who demanded it. Perhaps it's time to question the whole idea of feminism.

Because me striving for my own success is not me trying to be a role model for the women of the world or me 'as a woman' being ambitious. What I am, is a human being in this ecosystem. When I stand at an equal footing with a man, I am not a strong and independent woman, I’m a regular individual doing the best to my abilities. Honestly, women’s rights and gender equality is not 'feminism' and a woman talking about them is not a 'feminist', she is a person. When men succeed they are not a role model for men, when they ask for pay hike they are not 'meninists'. This world does not need feminism or any other regressive ‘ism’ for that matter. This world needs to recognise the biological and bodily differences and limitations in the genders and the mental and physical similarities of the two. It needs to stop saying things like women are now asking for their rights. We don’t need to ask, having them should have been the natural course of nature.  And above all we need to stop asking each other if we are feminists. We are not a category or a group, we are what should have been  the norm. #people #life #feminism #women #woman #latenightthoughts #cantsleep #happy #instagood #instaquotes #instadaily #womenrights
